Why are we not intelligent?

Well the very question that we always ask ourselves. Why are we not as innately talented and intelligent as Leonardo Davinci, Bill Gates, Tiger Woods or say Einstein! Well we have confronted ourselves with these questions but still content ourselves with the helpless fact that you can be just what you are capable and made up of. True as it may sem. But then who benchmarked that we need to be what we presently capable of. Well yes you guessed it right Our Education.

We as humans are the most evolved species on thus planet. Our strikingly distinct feature is our effective means of communication- Language. Based on the very language we today have setup out establishments of Science, Politics, Economics, Occupational Institutions, and most importantly our Social and Educational System. Competition breeds excellence. And there is no better virtue than knowledge to succeed in this evolved and highly competitive world as ours. Well so it is self explanatory that Knowledge plays the trump card in all of our lives. For it is the very knowledge that that puts your intelligence to test. For, you need better skills to specialize in your chosen profession to store our hard work in form economic storage called as “Money”
Our monetary system of Economy dictates the fundamentals of establishments of, as I mentioned, Economics, Religion, Politics and even Education. But of all such pivotal establishments of our intricate society, Educational Institutions have had the most tremendous and sound impact, as from the tenants of History. In fact the system of education has a role in Nation building. The kind of institution of occupational specialization we setup depends on the good human resources that are available in a particular country at least throughout that decade. So better education rolls our better resources creating better opportunities which in turn create avenues for revenues, enhancing the GDP factor and thus the purchasing power of the citizens; generating more value for the money we earn. So the bottom line is you earn good knowledge you indirectly contribute to the development of a country.
So then what has all this got to do with the Intelligence question? Well yes, if you really were to see our molded perspective, we has have evolved, tend to believe that it is knowledge that shall make our children self sustainable in future. Yes I am glad that is true. Well but I am severely saddened by the fact that our system of education, at least in India, actually does not impart this knowledge as we all tend to think. Well it is Skills that we acquire form the knowledge being imparted, that makes us fit for employment or the self sustainability process but not schooling or mere graduating. Well what I am trying to emphasize is that our education does not necessarily impart us these skills within the stipulated time frame ultimately leading to loss of good numbers of human resources for future due to inefficiency in teaching. I repeat INEFFICEINCEY IN TEACHING. Or in some contexts you can refer that as Training.
Well yes we might not be as intelligent as we ought to be because we do get this opportunity to get that appropriate training. And it so happens that we almost fail to realize that it is high time that we no longer can acquire any more skills. So we loose on time. Well then consider this, I happened to stumble upon these blogs and got motivated to write on this topic.
On innate talent - By Scott Barry Kaufman, Ph.D.

Malcolm Gladwell says that if you want to shine put in 10,000 hours
http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/article4969415.ece
Well if you haven’t followed those blogs (well mine is already quite long enough by now), then let me allow to provide a synopsis. Well, it reads on this innate endowment of intelligence, John B. Watson, a founder of Behaviorism, said:
"Give me a dozen healthy infants, well-formed, and my own specified world to bring them up in and I'll guarantee to take any one at random and train him to become any type of specialist I might select - doctor, lawyer, artist, merchant-chief and, yes, even beggar-man and thief, regardless of his talents, penchants, tendencies, abilities, vocations, and race of his ancestors."
Well yes it is our raising environment that shapes us to learn and evolve into what we would be. Well it is this initial fruitful time that we need to spend in acquiring the skills of sustainability. Another noteworthy mention is that,
The search for success has spawned a motivational industry worth millions of pounds and libraries full of self-improvement books.
It is practice, however, that makes perfect, and according to the sociologist. The best way to achieve international stardom is to spend 10,000 hours honing your skills, says the new book by Malcolm Gladwell, author of the best-selling The Tipping Point
Well whether you believe in the magical 10.000 figure to be scientific or rational.(), the point basically is that proper investment of time initially can result in becoming that genius that we are all talking about, yes the one including in you and me. So what has prevented us in becoming that?
Well I would outline, rather recommend as reasons, the following:
• Education Kills our curiosity by defeating the every purpose of acquiring knowledge and skills
• Lack of deliberate will
• Well that could be attributed to proper motivation and guidance
• Lack of resources in some cases
• Improper an inefficient System of Education
• NO Scale to measure how good or bad we are in the learning or training process ( hey no definitely not your Marks!)
I shall discuss the above mentioned factors in my next blog. Until then keep thinking whether you have invested those 10,000 hours of practice yet? May be you have just delivered 8142 hrs. think about it and keep blogging. AND YES catch up with those 10,000 hrs. Dont waste your time.
